Unity and Connection in Difficult Times: The BCICA Works for You

The BCICA faces very interesting times outside of the association’s control. The president of the United States is challenging Canadian sovereignty and the country’s economic future, and a federal election is looming. The BCICA cannot control the influence that these matters have on the trades, but members can control their place within the mechanical insulation industry by exercising a strong voice.

In the past, the BCICA Board decided to hire an Executive Director because establishing a voice for the industry that works for members’ benefit is key to the long-term growth of the trade. It does not matter who the Executive Director is, having a neutral party that works with the distributors, manufacturers, mechanical insulators, mechanical contractors, and design authorities is making a difference in the market.

This is my fourth year as head of the BCICA. Your association has never been stronger or better. Finances are up, QAC projects are up, membership is up, and our respect within the industry is up.

“Unity is strength. “When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”
—Mattie Stepanek, poet, peacemaker, and philosopher

The BCICA is struggling with participation at its social events. If you want this association to get stronger, you must participate in the social events. Unity will only come from having honest conversations about the future, and the more united we are, the stronger we become. The best environment for fostering unity is social events.

Your opinion and voice need to be heard, and we want to hear them.

We have several social events coming up:

  • Special Dinner Meeting – April 24

  • Mesothelioma Golf Tournament – May 23

  • TIAC Conference – August 13-16

  • Rob Nofield Memorial Derby Day – September 13

  • BCICA AGM – November 15

  • BCICA Christmas Party November 15

The BCICA has a reasonable expectation that all companies will have at least one representative attend all social events. Please sign up at bcica.org/events

BCICA is Working for You

The mechanical insulation industry is confusing at times. The water is muddy; however, the BCICA is trying to clean it up. We work with engineers, school boards, health authorities, developers, and any group we can to improve quality within the industry from the top of the project to the workers on the tools.

The association will never make the industry perfect, but it is working hard for its members’ best interests.

In 2021, the BCICA completed a strategic plan. One of the comments in the feedback portion was: “I want the association to be all those things I cannot be”. As a provincial association, the BCICA can have wider conversations than a single company can. Because of that, the BCICA has been able to make changes within the market that sometimes go unnoticed.

It is important to understand that the BCICA is working for you to improve quality and protect you and the trade. The association is a tool that can improve and grow the industry. Reach out, communicate, and ask questions. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
