The British Columbia Insulation Contractors Association (BCICA) is an association of professional mechanical insulation contractors, as well as manufacturers and suppliers of insulation materials and systems, specifically designed for use in the commercial, industrial, institutional, multi-residential and marine industries.
How does BCICA ensure quality insulations?
Two trends are competing against each other: elimination of insulation altogether or the use of non-certified materials and poor insulation practices as cost saving measures; versus energy conservation measures that rely on using insulation.
BCICA is working to ensure insulation practices meet quality standards that ensure the construction industry is “saving energy for the future”.

What do BCICA members do?
Professional mechanical insulation contractors are regularly assessing, designing, constructing and analyzing insulation requirements for commercial and institutional buildings. This involves three main functions.
Commercial & Industrial Insulation
Installation of sophisticated commercial & industrial insulation to equipment, pipes, ductwork and other mechanical systems in order to help control and maintain temperature.
Fire-Stopping Systems
Installation of fire-stopping systems that impede the spread of fire and smoke in the building.
Energy Saving Analysis
Preparation of a comprehensive analysis (financial, greenhouse gas emissions, etc.) of energy savings for a specific application.
This work requires adherence to professional standards of performance, and access to the latest industry information.
