What does a mechanical insulator do?

A job description would typically describe a mechanical insulator as someone who applies insulation to equipment, pipes, ductwork and other mechanical systems in order to help control and maintain temperature. In the construction industry for commercial and institutional buildings, mechanical insulators do a lot more!

We work for construction companies at job sites, and for manufacturers and distributors of insulation and related materials. In both environments, we are assessing, designing, constructing and analyzing. We are experts in thermal insulation and properties; materials; application and finishes; mechanical insulation specifications; firestopping; and inspection and maintenance.

We care about energy efficiency and the environment. We can prepare a comprehensive analysis of energy savings for a specific application, whether it is simply analyzing the cost impact of insulating one steam line or something as complex as performing an energy appraisal of a facility. Not only can we assist in analyzing the financial impact of an insulation application, we can also provide greenhouse gas emission reductions within the report.

The Heat and Frost Journeyperson Insulator must know his craft inside out, and update his knowledge regularly, Including the new techniques and material available from month to month.
